  • the oil crisis

i know i cannot be alone in wishing a much speedier response from our government to renewable energy resources to counter the growing dependency on imported oil - from parts of the world which don't necessarily regard us as the best of friends. i cite the problems the u.s. faces with their reliance on a 50% oil import quota to support their massive oil dependent culture.
the u.k is heading the same way and it would give me great satisfaction to know that we could cut ourselves off from the middle east and their magical hold over our environment policy not to mention our foreign policy!! without our money the middle east has nothing else to sell to us. they can still despise the west and wish it every ill but they could never then hold it to ransom by withholding the precious black gold. let us invest and sacrifice for a future without the middle east in our beds night after night.

  • on the job

Day 2 of my blog after a little test nonsense about daleks! Not my idea. I suppose I shall be starting off with an observation and then a complaint and then general musings about life as a jobbing actor.
First the observation - this is the first year in my garden in north west london when the robins haven't nested and so I have missed the delights of watching the male dart to and fro gathering nest material and then later after the hatching, seeing both mum and dad frantically tracking down food, keeping guard and making sortees to the nest. Shame.
Now the complaint - have car manufacturers redesigned cars to not include indicators as standard? Barely a driver uses them now to indicate their intention and the worst culprits? Women in headscarves - yes, you know who you are. Does your modesty for the faith and in the eyes of Allah make you so impassive and invisible that you assume others cannot see you and therefore you have no need to impress your presence on the world. Please be more visible and more active in this world!
And so to today's activities in the life of an actor. No jobs on the horizon though I have one day left on a TV show. Booked my ticket up north and dropped an old violin which I believe belonged to my grandfather into the local music shop to have it made playable. Also established my Fender guitar is knacked but might scrape through with some remedial work. Can't afford another really so will have to get by.
My daughter's first guitar lesson and she did really well though took it out on me later when we had a practice. Parents!! Bye for now!!
